He couldn't wait to get his chance to get on the mat as well. Harley started wrestling in second grade (they had to lie about his age since you weren't supposed to start until 3rd grade) and over the years he won four State Titles in freestyle and six in Greco, while also winning Regional Nationals in Greco as a 12 year old. When Harley was 15, he was runner up in the the World Team Trials and later that summer was an All-American in Greco. He was a four year started for the Varsity team in Hastings, and in his Junior year, placed fifth at the State Tournament, and was part of the team that won their first State Tournament over Apple Valley. Harley's senior year he was Captain, and after a six week injury, came back and took 4th at State, while also helping the team take fifth in the State Tournament. After a year's break from school, Harley attended Minnesota State Mankato where he majored in Earth Science Education and then graduated in 2002. That summer he began working at Crossroads Alternative High School teaching Science, and later that year, Coach Thronson asked him if he'd be interested in helping out with the 9th Graders. This is now Harley's 3rd year at Coon Rapids and he is extremely excited about the up and coming year.
